Liberty University will be paying up for damage caused to a wetland a stream. This according to the Times-Dispatch,

Liberty University has agreed to pay $9,270 in fines for minor wetland and stream damage resulting from a dorm project.

Department of Environmental Quality enforcement officer Marvin Booth says the damage involved a small amount of forest wetlands and 65 feet of a small stream.

65 feet! A measly 65 feet of stream cost Liberty University almost $10,000. Moreover, the proposed fines were $30,000, but LU countered with the much smaller sum.

Thank you, Wetlands Conservation Program - which by the way, classifies the puddle in your driveway as a wetland.

I’m curious as to what damage was really done to this stream.  Environmentalists have their foot in the door now, and won’t stop until they have their way with everything.

Where will this money go? Certainly it will go into repairing whatever damage was done to the stream, no? I seriously doubt it.
